War. What is it good for?
The Second World War was still a very fresh memory for our parents and there was an understandable reserve when it came to discussing the horrors of 1939-1945.
But it wasn't long before the sabres were rattling again and the killing machines were tuned up and turned loose, first in Korea and then in Vietnam. The brutality became the fodder of primetime news and its fury and effects reverberate still.
